Bladder cancer occurs when the cells inside the bladder start to grow abnormally and form tumors afterward. Fortunately, bladder cancer is very rare.

Bladder cancer occurs due to some factors which include:

Genetic design, family history and also of the race. If anyone of your parents suffered from bladder cancer then you may have a chance to have bladder cancer.

The symptoms of bladder cancer are as follows:

Painless blood coming through your urine or frequent and also painful urination. Bladder cancer can be treated with surgery, chemotherapy and also with radiation therapy.

Bladder cancer treatment – Surgery:

The most common surgery is the transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) in the early stages of bladder cancer.

The surgeon will put resectoscope into your bladder through the urethra. Urine will pass through it. There is a wire at the end of the resectoscope which will use by the surgeon to remove tumors or any abnormal tissues from the bladder. If still cancer exists after removing a tumor, your surgeon will destroy it by a cystoscope.

Your surgeon will remove some of the parts of your bladder (partial cystectomy) or full bladder (radical cystectomy) in this type of surgery.

If cancer that spreads in the muscle layer of the bladder is small, then partial cystectomy can be done. If the cancer spreads more in the bladder or large in size, then you need radical cystectomy – where your surgeon needs to remove the whole bladder.

Intravesical therapy:

This kind of treatment can also be done in the early stages of bladder cancer. A surgeon uses a catheter, which is a flexible tube in order to give medicine in your bladder. There are two types of medications to choose from immunotherapy and chemotherapy.

In this method of medication, your immune system will fight the cancer cells. Your doctor will inject Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG), a germ through your catheter. This germ is related which causes tuberculosis. This will help to bring your immune cells to the bladder and they are activated by Bacillus Calmette-Guerin. They will then ready to attack the cancer cells.

Intravesical chemotherapy:

In this process, the doctor will inject cancer-fighting medications in the bladder through the catheter and that helps to destroy cancer affected cells.

Systemic chemotherapy:

In this process, the doctor will give chemo through an intravenous (IV). It will travel through the bloodstream and kills the cancer cells that are formed beyond the bladder.

Radiation therapy:

In this process, the high energy radiation is used to kill the cancer cells. You may take this therapy for five days a week which can last longer for several weeks.

Bladder cancer is though very rare but all types of cancer are bad for your health. If you have the symptoms of bladder cancer then contact your physician at your earliest. He will give you best suggestion what to do to remove your bladder cancer.
