A Weekend At This Boutique Hotel Felt Like I Was Living Someone Else's (Epic) Life

Have you ever stayed somewhere so magical, it transports you to another country, century or even, into someone else’s shoes? The last hotel I checked into ticked all three boxes, and I didn’t even leave Australian shores. Introducing, Campbell Point House.

The private-home-turned boutique hotel located in Melbourne’s Bellarine Peninsula is basically an anomaly as far as I’m concerned when it comes to Australian hotels. Sitting pretty by the water, surrounded by perfectly manicured grounds, the mansion resembles a chateau you’d find nestled in the South of France – but it’s only an hour’s drive from Melbourne’s CBD.

If you’re truly into living the high life, the property can be reached by in just 15 minutes via helicopter from Avalon Airport. Oh, and there’s a helipad on site, so no need to stress about getting a parking ticket o your chopper.

The sandstone building features big French doors that allow the inside to be drenched in sunlight, black and white chequered floors, grand staircases, old-world artworks and exquisite furniture. There’s an infinity pool, tennis court, private jetty, billiard room and a huge verandah that I’m pretty sure was made as the perfect vantage point for watching the world go by. While the hotel boasts eight suites and sleeps 30, it feels decidedly private and intimate at the same time. Heaven.

Below, we break down what you need to know about CPH.
