could not bend over to tie my shoes! I could not fit in rides with my kids and grandkids
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I had a heart attack at age 36 I was diagnosed with hypertension at the age of 26 said not a big deal
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
the cardiologist put me in a program it’s called cardiac rehab 3 days a week for 3 months I was week and could not do much but it started me wanting more so when the program was done I dropped 20 pounds and told myself I want to live and be around for my kids and grandkids I lost my dad and many others to heart disease and I did not want to die I had to much to live for! they helped me with a heart diet so when I was done with the program I came home and continued to walk daily was still weak but walked 15 min then 30 min and then an hour a day one of my loves now I run and walk and do weights
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
about two weeks I was dropping weight but with heart medicine it was tough and every 3 months I change my routine because our bodies get use to the same thing all the time eating veggies white meat fish shrimp salads low salt 6 months later 70 down
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
walking even when I did not want too! Staying in a routine was important I hated exercise was hard but I did it! Being scared to die one of my biggest!
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I always wanted to give up but I new that exercise kept my heart healthy and the fear of death
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
yes at 70 pounds I hit a wall I was at this time in a gym 2 hours a day eating right and nothing well things got worse again my heart was not so great weight needed to come off cardiologist said and fast my numbers was very bad heart attack bad! I started to cry he sent me to a dietitian and with them I lost 30 pounds and then found Idealshape I lost 60+ reading there think book and there CDs and the shakes and bars and boost it was coming off fast

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
my daily diet is a smoothie with protein in the am salad at lunch with shrimp chicken or turkey and dinner white meat brown rice or sweet potato and half veggies when I was heavy it was steak and cheese and fried food no veggies seconds and thirds now I eat on a small plate not a platter
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I was 0 activity when I was 268 now I’m 5 days a week cardio and weights 3 days a week I belong to a gym so winters I can stay fit and moving when I was heavy sitting drinking partying and eating

- protein like shrimp chicken turkey cheese and protein shakes
- weights 3 days a week join a gym to keep u moving in the winters and cardio 5 days a week
- drink lots of water
